Cathay union joins plans to disrupt HKIA

Cathay Pacific and the SCMP appear to have taken the ostrich approach to news that the airline’s Flight Attendants Union is planning to join protests at the Hong Kong International Airport tomorrow. Instead, we need to rely on Global Times, which our friends at SupChina gleefully call a “nationalistic rag”.

The union, which does not represent the airline and therefore does not require the airline’s approval to run its Facebook account, put up a postthat appears to have enraged the editors of Global Times. It says that its members will be encouraged to join the airport protest, in support of five basic demands that include the full implementation of universal suffrage.
