Agricultural ‘demo zone’ launched

Zhuhai’s Doumen district launched construction yesterday of a new experimental zone focused on agricultural development. The 156,000-sqm project is expected to be completed in the first half of next year, with an initial annual output target for vegetables and fruits of 5000 tonnes. The produce will be mainly sold to Hong Kong, Macau and other major cities in the GBA.

The agricultural zone will use modern equipment to conduct agricultural research, production, logistics, management and sales by cooperating with various domestic and overseas institutions. The zone will also acquire certificates for green products and EU exports as well as build a source tracking system. The establishment of the agricultural zone means it can consistently provide high quality and fresh produce to Hong Kong and Macau, thereby further ensuring food safety.
