Shenzhen’s Qianhai special economic zone has launched new measures to extend its preferential tax policies to people living in Hong Kong, beyond those holding permanent ID cards. Now, those professionals who have gained residency in Hong Kong through the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme will also qualify for Qianhai’s sweeteners.
These “highly needed and high-end talents” will enjoy an effective 15% income tax, with the Qianhai government subsidizing the difference with mainland tax authorities.
Qianhai previously offered this only to permanent Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan residents, not those with a regular Hong Kong ID card. Moreover, mainlanders who have settled in Hong Kong and Macau via other means may also qualify for the scheme.
