The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is doing just fine, apparently. Official numbers show that daily average passenger headcounts at the Zhuhai Port have reached 44,000, which is double the original forecast. The data was released today after authorities announced that the Dragon Boat Festival had seen record numbers of more than 100,000 pass through the building in three days, June 7-9.
What is left unmentioned is how many of these travellers actually used the bridge, or were just using the port’s immigration facilities to move between Zhuhai and Macau. Apparently, Hong Kong and Macau residents accounted for half of the flow this weekend.
