Home Return Permit to be accepted for public services

Starting in October, Hong Kong and Macau residents can enjoy more than 30 types of public services in the mainland with their Home Return Permit.

These services include online registration of social security, booking medical appointments at a public hospital, opening online bank accounts or e-payment accounts, applying for public exams and a host of others.

Currently, Hong Kong and Macau residents cannot register online for many social services in the mainland with the Home Return Permit, which is an identity card granted by mainland authorities to ethnic Chinese living in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
