The president of Macau’s legislature, Ho Iat-seng, has formally announced his candidacy for Chief Executive. He faces a challenge from three others, none of whom are being taken seriously by political analysts, and will likely take office in December, on the eve of Macau’s 20th anniversary as a Special Administrative Region.
We profiled Ho back in March when he first indicated that he was prepared to run. Today was just his formal announcement. He said he wanted to promote economic diversification and participation in national plans for the Greater Bay Area.
